)) It’s called Zenit, but it being a Russian brand, it’s written in Cyrillic. The first one I know for a fact is perfectly functional (and medium format). It was my grandfather’s and it’s actually the one pictured in the two “Vintage” photos I did a while back. So I’m especially fond of that one . The two “box” ones I bought as functional (according to the antique dealers) and they seem to be, but they work with a long ago discontinued film type, which I haven’t really been able to find, so I’m not really sure. The Zenit, on the other hand, which is also supposedly functional, works with regular film, so that one I can actually test when I get around to buying some. But looking at that lens, to be honest, even if it does work mechanically, I doubt the photos look that great. Still, I really liked it, and it was unbelievably cheap compared to the prices around here on vintage cameras.

Actually, in cursive writing, that is what it looks like, and since I’ve seen photos of both the Cyrillic logo and “regular” logo, I’m guessing they made two versions – one for the local Soviet market, one for export. And since I bought it in Tallinn, it would make sense for it to be the local version.
True about the box cameras, they both seem to expose and the lens seems in good enough shape, so yeah, they’re probably good to go. What I meant about the lens on the Zenit camera was that it seems to have a couple of defects, but I can’t tell if they’re in the lens itself (the outermost one) or just the coating, so I’ll get some film and actually test it.
